Photobucket - Video and Image HostingMichael Crook vs. EFF and 10 Zen Monkeys.

From Technoccult, "If you haven't heard, an online prankster named Michael Crook is trying to abuse the DMCA to have unflattering pictures of himself taken off of web sites. 10 Zen Monkeys (RU Sirius's new zine) and the EFF are fighting back. I'm suggesting everyone put a pic of Crook and a link to the 10ZM page to 1."

"This is yet another case of someone intentionally misusing copyright law to try to shut down legitimate debate on an issue of public interest."

Subject:Walk Against Warming This Saturday
Security:Public

This Saturday we can help make John Howard very, very nervous about his glacial response to global warming by taking part in the Walk Against Warming.

Thank you for being one of thousands of GetUp members to have already RSVP'd to participate in cities and towns all across the country. So keep a look out for our "An Inconvenient Prime Minister" placards and stickers, wear your orange with pride and encourage friends and family to join you as we help turn the tide from denial and delays to action and accountability.

Click on the link below to find out the exact details of GetUp meeting spots at your local event:

Times are changing in Australia. This week alone Rupert Murdoch's Daily Telegraph published the headline "PM deaf on greenhouse," local mayors announced plans to coordinate their own Climate Change Agreement and our Federal Government was on the backfoot responding to the high-profile Stern Report, which predicted $9 trillion in economic damage worldwide if we fail to stop global warming.

This week GetUp also joined forces with Greenpeace and the Nature Conservation Council to commission a Newspoll climate change survey - and the results are enough make even our most out-of-touch political leaders sit up and take notice:

91 per cent of Australians, including 90 per cent of Coalition voters, want Australia to shift away from reliance on coal-fired power to renewable energy sources, and 86 per cent believe the Federal Government should be doing more to tackle climate change. 92 per cent of Australians do not believe the Federal Government is doing enough to encourage clean technologies, while the overwhelming majority of Australians, including 71% of Coalition voters, want Australia to ratify the Kyoto Protocol.

The only way to gain ground is to claim it, so on Saturday we'll help drive the message home.

Thanks for taking action,
The GetUp team
